We just published an article about breaking through red tape to get things done and reduce workplace bureaucracy.  Do you deal with a lot of roadblocks due to systems, procedures and processes that prevent you from getting your job done efficiently?

I don' think that bypassing processes and procedures is an effective way to change things around. There is lots of bearucratic red tape in eery business, but in order to effect change, there are rules and regulations that have to be followed. Change management processes allows us to plan,initiate,realize, control and stabilize, work activities at the corporate and personal levels so that we can get everyones buy in. If we do not allow ourselves to embrace these key concepts and instead bypass rules and procedures, how then can we bring about effective change in the workplace?

If you have an employee that feels the need to go around a procedure, is it worth trying modify the procedure for future situations?

I always found that If we create an environment where we encourage continuous improvement, we might be able to avoid bypassing procedures. The result is a focus on making recommendations to streamline them. If we can instill this philosophy in our own department, the likelihood that procedures are bypassed reduces and the probability that efficiency recommendations are proposed increases.

Would this approach work in your organization?

I one of my employees bypasses procedures to get things done, I ''ll check the priority of that procedure, if less will ignore but if it is mandatory, i will disqualify
