{#/pub/images/NinjaofInfluence.jpg}What behaviors define successful project managers and the people who sponsor them?  This is the topic of Ron Montgomery's recent article posted on our blog: Successful Project Managers-The 'Ninjas' of Influence.  Ron, our new Expert Panelist, Management Consultant and Owner of OnPoint, LLC, details 'Ninja-Like" behaviors common among successful project managers.  He also reviews the behaviors of project sponsors that support a successful outcome.

Project Manager Behaviors:

  • Recognize & reward team members.
  • Exhibit high standards of professionalism.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Keep up appearances.
  • Connect with sources of formal authority.

Project Sponsor Behaviors:

  • Ensure funds for training & development.
  • Provide mentorship & support.
  • Reinforce the role of project manager; don't micro-manage
  • Attend all key project meetings.

From your own experience as a project manager or sponsor, what other behaviors are necessary to master in order to ensure success?  What characteristics can hinder project success?
